The project "The Robla Green» stands as a benchmark in the production of e-methanol, a key fuel for the decarbonizationWith a production capacity of 140.000 tonnes per year, the plant will combine biogenic carbon from a biomass cogeneration plant with renewable hydrogen, resulting in sustainably sourced methanol.

The relevance of e-methanol lies in its versatility, as it can be used directly as a fuel in the maritime transport and as a feedstock for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Furthermore, its application extends to the decarbonisation of high-emission industries, such as the chemical industry.
The consortium in charge of the project brings together leading companies in the field of decarbonisation: Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., Johnson Matthey and Técnicas ReunidasEach of them will contribute their experience and technology to ensure the success of the initiative.
Under the agreement, Siemens Energy will be responsible for the renewable hydrogen unit, while Técnicas Reunidas will focus on biogenic carbon capture and e-methanol production. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. will provide the CO2 capture technology, and Johnson Matthew will supply its innovative eMERALD™ technology, which facilitates the direct hydrogenation of CO₂ to methanol.
This project aligns with "track", Técnicas Reunidas' decarbonization strategy, and withJUMP"Its strategic program. Furthermore, it has the backing of 180 million euros from the NextGenerationEU funds, allocated by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge."

The development of the engineering phase is the prelude to the construction of the plant, which will be carried out through an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract. The initiative is part of the H2 Valles program, which seeks to create large renewable hydrogen clusters in Spain.
