Thales awarded a contract for the installation of an ADS-B station that provides coverage in the Atlantic oceanic area bordering Spain and Portugal

Thales has signed a contract with ENAIRE for the supply of two aerial surveillance stations ADS-B, one of them portable outdoors and the other indoors that will be installed in the radar tower of Espiñeiras (A Coruña), with surveillance coverage ADS-B over the Atlantic oceanic zone bordering the FIR (Flight Information Region) Santa María, Lisbon and Madrid.

The system Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast  (ADS-B according to the acronym in English) is a cooperative surveillance technology in which an aircraft determines its position through its onboard navigation systems (GNSS, inertial,...) and emits a signal ADS-B periodically without being questioned. The information is received by ADS-B ground stations for air traffic control.

ADS-B technology allows aerial surveillance, with less environmental impact, in areas where there is no radar coverage, or its use as a complement to radar to optimize the surveillance network and to access the benefits of ADS-B technology. as identification and better positioning.

This project, which will have an execution period of 9 months, contemplates the supply and installation of two ADS-B stations with technology Extended Squitter (Extended spontaneous signals), including the supply of the necessary elements for the correct supervision and configuration of the stations.
