The Barcelona Free Zone Consortium (CZFB) has been awarded the Vocento Business Prize for Innovation in recognition of DFactory Barcelona , a benchmark center in industry 4.0 and open innovation.
In just three years, DFactory Barcelona has established an Industry 4.0 ecosystem that currently occupies 17,000 m² of space and houses 35 multinational companies, SMEs, and research centers. This space is dedicated to developing pioneering projects in areas such as robotics, 3D printing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and nanotechnology, making it an international benchmark for industrial innovation.
Pere Navarro , the State's special delegate to the CZFB, expressed his pride in receiving this award: “We are very proud to receive this award, and that DFactory Barcelona is recognized as a leading example of industrial innovation, aligned with the SDGs , where new solutions and disruptive technologies are created that will be key to the advancement of the new economy. We have 85% occupancy of the facilities and are already planning the second phase to continue growing and promote a major Industry 4.0 District.”
Blanca Sorigué , CEO of the CZFB, also highlighted the value of this project: “This award recognizes not only DFactory Barcelona, but also the professionals and all the companies that have chosen to locate in this unique building, both for its physical structure and, above all, for its content. Here, synergies are created between companies, which materialize into new business opportunities and represent social and economic progress for our country.”
The second phase of DFactory envisions adding an additional 80,000 m², creating a 100,000 m² space dedicated to innovation, technology, and sustainability. With this expansion, the CZFB aims to solidify the Barcelona Metropolitan Region's position as a global leader in industrial innovation.
The 2024 Vocento Business Awards gala, held at the Vocento Group headquarters, featured the participation of Ignacio Ybarra, president of the organization, and highlighted 12 other companies in various categories, such as sustainability, digitalization and inclusion.
