The Barcelona Free Zone Consortium (CZFB), In collaboration with AMEC, celebrated the Day ZF Innovative Ecosystem, an event that brought together the companies that are transforming the Free Trade Zone into the Distrito 4.0 of the Barcelona Metropolitan Region. The event highlighted the innovation initiatives being developed in this key economic area and promoted networking between companies, entities and startup incubators linked to industry 4.0 and 3D printing.
Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the CZFB, stressed that “the innovative ecosystem of the Zona Franca polygon is creative and generates wealth, products and services that are related to the economic development of the geographic area, the country and internationally. It should be noted that it is not a project: District 4.0 is a reality. We already have the urban plan created, we have the capacity for connection. The only thing we need to do is transform the activities of the industrial estate towards an integration of industry 4.0.”
For its part, Blanca Sorigué, general manager of CZFB, highlighted the importance of the event to “showcase the innovation that all the companies in our great ecosystem are developing, in order to promote networking between the different sectors of activity and encourage the generation of new business opportunities.”
During the event, innovative projects such as the one of Apaprocessing, a service company that facilitates access to high pressure technology for food companies. Gonzalo Guarch, Managing Director of Apaprocessing, explained that their technological partner is Hiperbaric, a world leader in high pressure equipment, which allows them to have the most advanced HPP technology.
Carlos Cosials, Industry 4.0 director at 9Altitudes, also shared his company's commitment to innovation, which is dedicated to the automation, optimization and continuous improvement of industrial processes. 9Altitudes integrates cutting-edge software solutions with its own innovations, merging technologies to ensure that each implementation is a profitable and sustainable investment.
ZF Innovative Ecosystem Awards
Within the framework of the day, the following were delivered: ZF Innovative Ecosystem Awards, which recognized the most outstanding companies in four categories of innovation:
- Circular economy: Prezero, for its Bio Energy Factory project, a biogas production facility for the generation of biomethane. Juan Antonio Gázquez Serrano, Industrial Director of Prezero's Northern Zone, received the award.
- Application of 4.0 technologies: Motor Tàrraga Trucks, for developing technological solutions to analyse routes and perform predictive maintenance on its fleet of 100 electric trucks. Xavi Esteve Roca, general manager of Motor Tàrraga Trucks, collected the award.
- Collaboration: Asorcad, for the definition of processes, protocols and equipment for the ITER project. Antonio Sanchez, CEO of Asorcad, received the recognition.
- Impact on corporate CSR: DAU Foundation, for its project “Transforming communities: Innovation and equal opportunities for people with mental health problems.” Anna Cohi, general director of the DAU Foundation, collected the award.
The day also included the participation of Mercabarna, Port of Barcelona and Barcelona Health Hub, who shared their experiences in creating specific communities focused on food, the blue economy and health, respectively.
Next day
The Minister of Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, Oscar Lopez, will open the second day, which will feature the participation of Pere Navarro, Blanca Sorigué and Joan Tristany, general manager of AMEC. An innovation dynamic led by AMEC will be carried out, where attendees will address the main challenges of the current industry and work in groups to find innovative solutions in areas such as logistics 4.0, technology in the industry, sustainability and new professional profiles.
