The European project I-EBRA promotes energy rehabilitation in the EU through BIM and data intelligence

The European research project I-EBRA (Integrative EPC for Building Renovation Acceleration) has begun its formal activity in Alicante to accelerate energy renewal in EuropaLed by CYPEThe consortium will develop digital tools based on methodology BIM to optimize the efficiency and profitability of real estate rehabilitation.

Digitization and precision tools for rehabilitation

The central objective of I-EBRA, funded under the Programa LIFE 2021-2027 from the Unión EuropeaThe aim is to improve the quality of and access to critical data for the environmental and financial assessment of projects. To achieve this, two technological pillars will be designed: Smart B-Renov Toolbox and the Open Digital Hub.

As highlighted Pablo Gilabert, Innovation Director of CYPE, Smart B-Renov Toolbox It will assist professionals in defining optimal renovation scenarios. This solution will integrate:

  • Advanced assessments of Energy efficiency and life cycle analysis.
  • Power financial viability for investors.
  • Transformation Augmented Reality (AR) y Virtual Reality (VR) for digital inspection.
  • Connecting price databases with models BIM to reduce technical uncertainty.

In turn, the Open Digital Hub It will function as a centralized ecosystem on the platform BIMserver.center"This system will collect and organize energy certificates, budgets, and models." BIM in a single interface, facilitating clear visualizations about the ROI«, Details Pablo Gilabert.

International Consortium and Validation Pilots

The project, which will run until December 31, 2028, has a solid foundation of transnational collaboration between entities of España, Polonia, Eslovenia e Italia.

Country Participating Entities Pilot Range
España CYPE, Institut Català d’Energia (ICAEN), Estrats 10 public buildings (>21.000 m2)
Polonia Mostostal Warszawa, Fasada Historic buildings and railway stations
Eslovenia GOLEA (Energy Agency) 10 public centers (health and education)
Italia Fraunhofer Italia Research Scarl Research and technical support

The validation of these tools will be carried out in 25 buildings of diverse types. España, ICAEN will lead trials in schools and offices, highlighting a residency in Sant Adrià del Besòs. In PoloniaThe focus will be on infrastructure rehabilitation in Gdynia y Gdańsk.
