The Region of Murcia is positioned as an export epicenter for the Habitat industry.

This achievement has been driven, to a large extent, by initiatives such as the IV International Conference on Art, Culture and Design in Hospitality Spaces, organized by the Ministry of Business, Employment and Social Economy, through the Institute for Development (Info), which seeks to foster collaboration between artists and industry to create innovative projects in the hotel and restaurant sector.

The Habitat sector in the Murcia has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, regional companies have demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability, managing to exceed pre-health crisis export figures. In 2024, export volume reached €222,7 million, compared to €143,52 million recorded in 2019. This 55% increase positions the Region of Murcia as a key player in the Spanish export scene, occupying tenth place in the national ranking.

This success is attributed, in part, to the diversification and competitiveness of the region's business ecosystem, which encompasses sectors such as furniture, natural stone, and lighting. Furniture stands out as the main export product, with a sales volume close to €130 million in 2024, followed by stone and stone products, which reached €27 million. The main destinations for these exports are European countries such as France, Portugal, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The recently held IV International Conference on Art, Culture and Design in Hospitality Spaces was a key meeting point for promoting collaboration between artists, designers, and companies in the sector. The director of Info, Joaquín GómezHe highlighted the importance of this initiative to "promote a collaborative space between artists and industry to design winning projects in the hotel and restaurant sectors, which move a high volume of international Business«.

The event served as a platform to analyze the strategic value of art, culture, and design in hospitality spaces from an international perspective. The key aspects of creative collaboration between industry, design, and culture were explored, as well as the perspectives of interior designers and hotel operators from around the world, including America, Europe and the Middle East.

"This initiative is part of the program'Contract,” which the regional government launched to boost regional exports of companies in the housing sector through this marketing channel,” Gómez recalled, emphasizing the regional government’s commitment to the internationalization of the sector.

The Region of Murcia has thus established itself as a benchmark in the housing industry, thanks to its capacity for innovation, the quality of its products, and the collaboration between the various stakeholders in the sector.
