In detail, imports registered a 36,8% increase, while exports grew by 9,9%. These positive figures contrast with the 12,3% decrease in transit.

Despite the uncertainty prevailing in the global economy, full container traffic with the Port of Barcelona's main trading partners has maintained a positive trend. Significant growth has been recorded in trade with key countries such as China (44,7%), United States (3%), India (50,8%), South Korea (48,5%), Saudi Arabia (33,4%) and Mexico (20,9%).
However, not all sectors of the Port of Barcelona have experienced similar growth. total freight traffic reached 10.112.957 tons between January and February 2025, representing a decrease of 4,3% compared to the same period in 2024. Total container traffic also experienced a slight reduction of 1%, with a total of 597.761 TEUs moved.
El bulk liquids sector registered a slight increase of 0,6%, with a total of 1.789.816 tons moved. This growth is partly attributed to the good results of hydrocarbons, with increases of 33,8% in gasoline and 18,4% in diesel. On the other hand, Chemicals experienced a decrease of 17,8%, with 220.902 tons moved, which puts an end to the exceptional growth trend of the previous year.
The bulk solids registered a significant decrease of 25,7%, with a total of 510.283 tons moved. This decrease is attributed to the reduction in the traffic of soybeans, potash, and common salt.
In terms of passenger traffic, ferries carried 126.132 passengers, representing a slight decrease of 0,8%. Traffic with the Balearic Islands increased by 4,8%, while traffic with Italy decreased by 26,5%. Intermodal Transport Units (UTIs) Traffic with the Balearic Islands also reflected this trend, with a 3,7% decrease. Traffic with the Balearic Islands increased by 5,7%, while traffic with Italy decreased by 18,6%.
