The Port of Santander presents itself in Palencia as a strategic partner for the agri-food sector.

 

The Provincial Palace of Palencia hosted the first working session organized by the Palencia 2030 Agri-food Platform , a key initiative of the Regional Government of Castile and León to boost the sector's development in the province. The event featured the participation of César Díaz, president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), who presented the Cantabrian port's competitive advantages and cutting-edge infrastructure to a large group of business leaders.

 

The main objective of the meeting was to establish direct dialogue with Palencia business leaders, many of whom operate in the agri-food sector, and to demonstrate how the Port of Santander can optimize its logistics operations, reduce costs, and improve its competitiveness in an increasingly demanding global market.

 

César Díaz , visibly pleased with the reception, thanked the Palencia 2030 Agri-food Platform for the opportunity to bring the port's commercial offerings closer to its current and potential clients. "For us, it is essential to be close to our clients, and a very important part of them are located precisely in Castile and León," Díaz stated during his presentation. "This event allows us, in addition to showcasing our strengths, to hear firsthand their demands and needs."

 

The president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS) emphasized the fundamental pillars that make the Port of Santander a trusted strategic partner. "We are a local, reliable, and highly competitive port. We have an outstanding port community, which guarantees efficiency and quality in every operation. We are convinced that we can be an essential link in the logistics chains of companies in Castile and León , and especially in Palencia," he added emphatically.

 

One of the key points of Díaz's presentation was the importance of intermodality in the current landscape of international trade . The president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS) emphasized how the Port of Santander's ability to combine different modes of transport—maritime, rail, and road—becomes a crucial advantage for businesses. "In today's uncertain environment of trade relations, intermodality plays a key role. It allows for optimized transit times, significantly reduced logistics costs, and, moreover, lower carbon emissions, which is increasingly relevant for companies with a sustainability vision," Díaz explained.

 

In this regard, the port's top official emphasized the need for companies to explore robust and efficient logistics alternatives . "Right now, it is essential for companies to have viable options for their exports and imports. The Port of Santander presents itself as an opportunity worth exploring carefully," he concluded.

 

As a demonstration of the Port of Santander's commitment to the business community of Palencia, César Díaz announced a second working session to be held at the port facilities before the summer. "We want to invite all interested business owners to visit our port facilities firsthand and have the opportunity to make direct contact with the various operators working at the port," stated the president of the Port Authority of Santander (APS), extending an open invitation to collaboration.

 

The event in Palencia was attended not only by the president of the Port Authority of Santander. High-level representatives from the Regional Government of Castile and León also participated, such as Rubén Calzada, head of logistics services at the Directorate General of Transport and Logistics; José Antonio Rubio, territorial delegate of the Regional Government of Castile and León in Palencia; and Luis Fuentes, delegate for the Atlantic Corridor and Complementary Networks. The Provincial Council of Palencia was represented by its president, Ángeles Armisén, which underscores the interest and institutional support for this collaborative initiative.
