The port of Santander stands as the the most important freight traffic hub in its hinterland, thanks to its privileged location in the North Atlantic. To its already strong regular maritime connections, adds a notable growth in general merchandise, both containerized and wheeled, which makes it a point of interest for new logistics projects.
During their participation in the fair, the APS officials also had a relevant meeting with Arancha Mur, Director of the Economic and Logistics Area of the National Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC). At this meeting, the following were detailed: investments that the port is making to optimize the efficiency and capacity of your car terminal, as well as the improvement of the rail-port connectivity for this type of traffic.
These improvements are part of the APS Investment Plan 2024-2028, which includes significant works such as expansion of the high storage silo, the construction of a heel and a ramp in Raos 9, and the impetus to a new logistics area in Llano de La Pasiega, conceived as an essential complement to the port. It is worth noting that Santander has historically maintained a leading position in the valuations of ANFAC, topping the ranking on nine of the seventeen occasions in which it has been compiled.
