The Port of Seville expands its logistics capabilities with two new warehouses in the ZAL

This investment of 6,5 million euros will be used to build two new warehouses within the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL), consolidating the port as a strategic enclave for the distribution of goods in the south of the peninsula and the north of Africa.

The plot, measuring over 12.000 square meters, will house a large warehouse, exceeding 6.300 m², designed as a multi-client, multipurpose space. This infrastructure will be equipped for general distribution logistics and, significantly, for cold storage logistics, a growing demand in the sector. This state-of-the-art warehouse is expected to be operational during the first quarter of next year.

The second warehouse, with a surface area of ​​2.400 m², will be a facility for cross docking with double-sided springs, designed to optimize distribution efficiency and streamline transportation chain times. Its implementation is scheduled for the end of this year.

This expansion occurs in a context of notable growth in freight traffic at the Port of SevilleDuring the first quarter of the year, the port experienced a 6,6% increase, surpassing one million tons handled in March. This boost is largely due to the excellent performance of dry bulk cargo, with a 25,8% increase. Particularly noteworthy is the positive performance of fertilizer (+19%), cereals (+18%), and scrap iron (+56%), crucial for the two steel plants supplied by the port. Container traffic also shows an upward trend, with a 3,6% increase in tonnes (exceeding 269.000) and a 3% increase in TEUs (reaching 37.400).

The president of the Port Authority of Seville, Rafael CarmonaHe described the performance of port traffic as "good evolution" and gave equally positive forecasts for the month of April, where a movement of around 1.435.000 tons is estimated, which would represent an increase of 45.000 tons compared to the same period of the previous year.

The Port of Seville's ZAL has established itself as a national benchmark. With 54 hectares of land and 200.000 m² of built and occupied warehouses, it houses top-tier clients such as Amazon, XPO, Rhenus Logistics and Dia, among others. Its strategic location as the only inland seaport on the Iberian Peninsula, connected by sea, rail, and land, makes it an essential logistics hub for southern Spain. This new investment by Sevisur Logística will further strengthen its position as a multimodal platform specializing in the transport of agricultural, steel, and container products.
