The multi-million-dollar project aims to alleviate congestion and improve connectivity in the northeast of the Australian city.
The works, which will be carried out between the roads of Tram and SpringvaleThe improvements aim to significantly reduce drivers' travel times. According to Juan Santamaría, CEO of the ACS Group and Executive Chairman of the CIMIC Group, the project could shorten journeys by up to 11 minutes between Springvale Road and Hoddle Street. Santamaría emphasized that these improvements are "essential to providing greater access through Melbourne's eastern suburbs."
The project, which represents a milestone in Melbourne's infrastructure development, is expected to be completed by 2028.
The Synergy consortium is formed by CPB Contractors, BMD Constructions and ArupCPB Contractors' Managing Director, Jason Spears, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and the use of advanced digital technologies. "We will continue to work closely with the Victorian Government and local communities to minimize disruption and maximize social impact," Spears stated.
Major improvements include the addition of new lanes and ramps, the installation of state-of-the-art traffic management technologies, and the revitalization of green spaces in Koonung Creek Park. Additionally, pedestrian and cyclist connectivity will be improved, including the construction of a new overpass at Eram Park.
