The Cadiz Free Trade Zone launches a program to accelerate the financing and internationalization of biotech startups.

This initiative, framed within the European cross-border cooperation project IberoBio, seeks to strengthen the region's scientific and technological entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The program, which will run between June and September 2025, has as its main objective to promote the global expansion, attracting investment and consolidating blue biotechnology companies and projects. To achieve this, it will offer specialized acceleration programs and access to a valuable network of strategic opportunities. This line of work is part of the Interreg Spain-Portugal Cooperation Program (POCTEP), in which the Cadiz Consortium actively participates.

Two Complementary Itineraries for Success

The initiative is structured around two complementary pathways that will provide participants with the tools they need to grow:

Access to FinancingThis program will offer personalized advice on developing attractive proposals for investors, perfecting your business pitch, and preparing you to access both public and private financing.

InternationalizationFocused on expansion into foreign markets, this program will provide training and strategic support to identify opportunities, adapt business models to international contexts, and establish a clear roadmap for expansion.

Both programs will be complemented by specialized mentoring, intensive training, and various networking activities, ensuring comprehensive support for participating projects.

Open Call for Blue Biotechnology Projects

The call is aimed at companies and projects in the field of blue biotechnology or with the potential to hybridize with this sector, seeking investment or considering opening up to new markets. Participants will be selected based on criteria such as the degree of innovation, technical and economic viability, and the project's scalability potential.

Applications can be submitted using the form available on the project's official website: https://iberobio.eu/aceleradora-biotecnologia-cadiz.

With this initiative, the Cádiz Free Trade Zone reaffirms its commitment as a driving force for high-value-added sectors, supporting the development of scientific and technological entrepreneurship as a driver of economic transformation in the cross-border environment.

The actions of this programme are possible thanks to the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund (SPRING), through the Interreg VI A Spain – Portugal programme (POCTEP) 2021-2027, which promotes cross-border cooperation projects with the support of the European Union
