The Port of Santander consolidates its growth with 7% more traffic

In the first quarter

This positive result is mainly driven by the strong increase of 27,1% in general merchandise, which surpasses bulk cargo for the first time, becoming the most important type of traffic in the port.

The president of the Port Authority of Seville (APS), César Díaz , has assessed the traffic data for the period January-April of this year and has highlighted the “importance” of the fact that general cargo “is increasing significantly” at the Port, “currently surpassing bulk cargo in the percentage of total traffic.”

For Díaz, although "evidently all merchandise provides wealth", we must not forget that general merchandise represents a high added value "which translates into a greater number of jobs, which is why we consider it especially important."

The president of the Port Authority also recalled that, in order to continue growing, "the Port must overcome its space problems" and therefore, in addition to continuing to invest in infrastructure such as Raos 6, Raos 9 or the car silo to optimize its facilities and advocating for the La Pasiega Logistics Center , "it must commit to synchromodality to be more efficient and achieve a greater turnover of goods."

The Port of Santander is in a solid position to continue its growth in the coming years
