Since 1992, Tenerife has had a mixed-company limited company, 60% owned by the Island Council and the tourist municipalities, while the remaining 40% is in the hands of island business owners, mostly hoteliers.
The Tenerife Foreign Promotion Society (SPET) has managed to unite the efforts and resources of public administrations and the private sector to implement coherent strategies that guarantee the privileged position of the Island as a tourist destination.
Thus, Tenerife has reached the customer with a well-defined offer of specific products, which offer the visitor different tourist areas linked to very specific products, such as golf, congresses, maritime leisure, or tourism in the rural environment.
For this reason, SPET has created six tourism brands that represent different products:
– Tenerife Select: brings together the most exclusive offerings on the island. Its members comprise a selection of the best restaurants and leisure companies. Its objective is to attract high-spending clients.
– Tenerife Golf: brings together the island's golf offerings. Its members are golf courses and hotels specializing in serving golfers. The brand's promotional efforts focus primarily on the summer season, when courses experience lower occupancy rates.
– Tenerife Natural: brings together the island's rural tourism offerings. Rural houses and small hotels are part of this brand, as well as active leisure companies that offer hiking, canyoning, climbing, paragliding, cycling, horseback riding, and other outdoor sports or activities in contact with nature.
– Tenerife and the Sea: a brand encompassing tourism offerings related to the ocean and its surroundings. Members include accommodations with nautical leisure activities, sailing schools, diving and kitesurfing schools, boat rentals, whale and dolphin watching tour operators, boatyards, marinas, and yachts.
– Tenerife Convention Bureau: brings together the island's offerings as a destination for congresses, conventions, incentive trips, and product launches. It comprises a network of businesses including convention centers, agencies specializing in event organization, 4- and 5-star hotels with conference rooms, and other service providers.
– Tenerife Film Commission: promotes the island as a location for producing audiovisual content (film, video, and TV).
