The Region of Murcia launches internationalization scholarships to promote young talent in foreign trade.

 

With a total budget of 390.000 euros for this 2025-2026 edition, the selected scholarship recipients will receive a financial award ranging between 23.000 and 41.000 euros, depending on the destination. These scholarships offer the unique opportunity to spend a year in the Commercial Offices of Spanish Embassies Abroad.

 

The Minister of Business, Employment and Social Economy, Marisa López Aragón, highlighted the importance of this program. "This initiative allows us to train highly qualified young people to incorporate talent with an international profile and proven experience into the regional business community," stated López Aragón. He also emphasized that "the Region is one of the most open autonomous communities to the outside world, which is an asset for the regional economy and, at the same time, an incentive to continue working to facilitate our companies' access to foreign markets with guaranteed success."

 

Strategic Destinations and Comprehensive Support

 

The 2025-2026 call for proposals offers ten strategic destinations: Seoul (Korea), Los Angeles (USA), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), São Paulo (Brazil), Tokyo (Japan), Lima (Peru), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Toronto (Canada) and Cairo (Egypt). These destinations have been selected in line with the actions of foreign promotion that the Info and the Chambers of Commerce of Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca developed within the framework of the Foreign Promotion Plan of the Region of Murcia, part of the Business Internationalization Strategy 2023-2027.

 

In addition to the financial support, the Ministry will cover round-trip travel, accident insurance and travel assistance, travel expenses for training activities at the destination, and visa issuance fees, guaranteeing comprehensive support for the scholarship recipients.

 

Rigorous Selection Process and Requirements

 

The interns will take on highly responsible tasks in the Commercial Offices, including the preparation of market reports, support in the organization of commercial agendas, identification of opportunities for Murcian companies and assistance during international missions and fairs, all in coordination with the ICEX - Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade.

 

The application requirements include residing in the Region of Murcia, being under 30 years of age, holding a university degree or equivalent, and demonstrating a minimum level of English B2. Particular consideration will be given to profiles with qualifications in areas such as business, law, engineering, languages, or international relations.

 

The selection process consists of knowledge and language tests, followed by a five-week intensive course in international trade taught by ICEX-CECOThe ten best candidates who pass the final exam will be selected, along with two reserve candidates. Positions will be assigned based on academic profile, training performance, and the needs of each Sales Office.
