TIBA consolidates its leadership in Latin America with the acquisition of SMX Logistics in Brazil

TREATMENT, recognized for its specialization in freight transport and customs services, has taken a giant step in its strategy of international expantion by acquiring SMX Logistics, a leading Brazilian company in maritime, air, and land transportation. This acquisition coincides with TIBA's 50th anniversary.

The integration of SMX Logistics will allow TIBA to leverage the Brazilian company's experience and local knowledge, strengthening its competitiveness and positioning in the region.

This acquisition underscores TIBA's commitment to the Latin American and Caribbean market, consolidating its presence in 22 countries and reaching a turnover of nearly USD 700 million.

 

 

Eduardo Seara, managing partner and founder of SMX Logistics, saw the transaction as an opportunity to take his project to a new level while maintaining its essence and values: “Joining TIBA opens up a world of possibilities for us, not only in Brazil but also beyond our borders. Operation Details:

 

The combined operations of both companies total more than 380.000 TEUs and 25.700 air tons annually, with 70 offices and a workforce of nearly 2.000 professionals. TIBA closed the 2024 financial year with more than 340.000 TEUs and 23.000 air tons, while SMX Logistics contributes more than 43.000 TEUs and 2.700 air tons.

 

The integration will be carried out progressively, maintaining the organizational structure, the SMX Logistics brand and operational channels. Eduardo Seara will continue to lead the company, working in collaboration with Javier Romeu.

 

This strategic alliance will allow TIBA and SMX Logistics to share tools, processes, and technological solutions, as well as develop new business verticals in sectors such as renewable energy, bulk liquids, fashion, healthcare, and mining.
