La Valencia has recorded a 7,9% increase in its exports during the month of December 2024, reaching a value of 3.218,1 million euros, according to data provided by the Secretary of State for Commerce. This increase has been driven by the solid performance of the agri-food sector, which has consolidated itself as the main driver of Valencian exports, representing 23,9% of the total. In addition, the province of Castellon has stood out for its remarkable growth in exports, with an increase of 23,8% compared to December 2023.
Despite this rebound in the last month of the year, the total exports of the Valencian Community in 2024 have experienced a slight decrease of 2,7% compared to the previous year, reaching a value of 36.978,3 million euros. However, this figure represents the third best value in the historical series, which highlights the constant effort of Valencian companies in a international economic context marked by slowing demand and market stagnation.
The European Union remains the main destination for Valencian exports, absorbing 58,2% of the total exported in 2024
The Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Marian Cano, has stressed the importance of supporting companies in their internationalization processesespecially in a complex global context. "It is essential that companies have the necessary support to consolidate their presence in the international markets "and to face the challenges posed by the current economic scenario," the minister stated.
By provinces, Valencia has recorded a 5,6% decline in its exports in 2024, while Alicante has experienced a slight increase of 0,1%. For its part, Castellon has stood out with a 1,9% increase in its exports
.
In terms of sectoral performance, the agri-food sector has confirmed its strength by closing the year 2024 with a 7,5% increase in its exports. Other sectors that have also experienced growth in their exports are energy products, an increase of 15,1%.
The European Union remains the main destination for Valencian exports, absorbing 58,2% of the total exported in 2024. The main markets within the EU are France, Germany, Italy and Portugal.
