The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, met in Brussels with the Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, to discuss key issues related to bilateral cooperation and global challenges. During the meeting, both leaders underlined their common commitment to the fight against climate change and the global warming.
“We are strongly aligned in our fight against climate change. We are both working intensively towards decarbonized and circular economies, as well as on the protection of nature. There are many issues on which we share values and objectives,” von der Leyen emphasized after the meeting.
The Commission President also noted the importance of this alignment on global issues as a solid foundation for bilateral relations between the European Union and the United KingdomHe also stressed the need to explore new areas of cooperation, while both sides continue to focus on the full implementation of key agreements such as the Withdrawal Agreement, the Windsor Framework and the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA).
