Abertis exceeds 85% of its subsidiary in Italy after the purchase of an additional stake for 125 million

Abertis has reached an agreement with minority shareholders for the purchase of an additional 22,52% stake in A4 Holding, its subsidiary in ItalyAbertis will pay €125 million for the stake, of which €36 million will be paid by the end of January 2018, and the remainder by the end of July 2017. 

 

As a result of the transaction, Abertis will control 85,36% of A4Holding, which reinforces its growth strategy in the current asset portfolio, and specifically, in its subsidiary in Italy, an attractive country for the Group.

 

Impact for the Group

 

From a financial perspective, the acquisition will have a positive impact on Abertis's net profit due to the reduced stake held by minority shareholders, and will provide the Group with a greater flow of dividends from Italy.

 

The operation demonstrates the ability of Abertis to grow internationally under attractive conditions while maintaining its financial discipline. It also reinforces its management strategy of investing more heavily in assets already known to the company and where it has no competition, reducing its operational risk profile.

Abertis in Italy

 

Abertis It has been present in Italy since September 2016 following the closing of the acquisition of 51,4% of A4 Holding.

 

The subsidiary manages the section of the A4 motorway, known as “La Serenissima”, which connects the cities of Brescia and Padua along 146 kilometers. With three lanes in each direction, it is one of the busiest motorways in the country. It also operates the 89-kilometer A31 (Austostrada della Valdastico), which connects the towns of Piovene Rocchette and Badia Polesine.

 

Both add up to a total of 235 kilometers of highways in the region. Veneto, one of Italy's most prosperous regions, with one of the highest GDP and per capita income levels in the country. It is a strategic geographical area, located in the corridor that connects Italy's industrial north with the economic center of Europe.
