ACCIONA and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), belonging to the World Bank, have announced a strategic agreement to promote the development of environmentally responsible infrastructures in emerging marketsThis agreement includes a green loan linked to sustainability objectives for a total value of 600 million dollars, with the initial purpose of financing Line 6 of the Sao Paulo Metro in Brazil and various electric transmission lines in Peru.
The first tranche of the loan, amounting to $380 million, includes a direct contribution of $145 million from IFC. In addition, the FMO bank is participating. Netherlands with 95 million and two parallel loans: one from the German DEG for 105 million and another from the French Proparco for 130 million. These funds will be mainly allocated to projects in Peru and Brazil.
En PeruEfforts will focus on three crucial power lines to integrate renewable energy into the national system: Reque-Nueva Carhuaquero (220kV), Nueva Tumbes (220/60kV) and Ica-Poroma (220kV). These initiatives are essential to facilitate the transition to a cleaner energy system and meet the country's growing electricity demand.
Meanwhile, in Brazil, the flagship project is Metro Line 6 Sao PauloThis new infrastructure promises to revolutionise urban mobility for approximately 600.000 passengers a day, significantly reducing travel times from one and a half hours to just 23 minutes. This will improve access to essential services such as education and healthcare for peripheral communities.
