ACCIONA Energía will have a 51% stake, while Grupo Pais will have the remaining 49%.

Located in the province of San Juan de la Maguana, the plant will have a nominal capacity of 63,35MW and its construction is linked to a PPA for 15 years with Edesur Dominicana, one of the three distributors of the State of the Dominican Republic.

ACCIONA Energy launched its first photovoltaic installation in the Dominican Republic in 2023, the Calabaza I plant (58MWp)

The plant will be made up of solar panels with a single-axis tracker that adapt their position throughout the day according to the movement of the sun. This technology allows us to optimize the collection of sunlight and maximize production, which will reach 189.07 GWh per year, or in other words, the energy equivalent to the consumption of 78.000 Dominican homes.

After its entry into operation, scheduled for the end of 2025, the Pedro Corto solar plant will annually avoid the emission of more than 130.000 tons of CO2 per year, or in other words, the equivalent of removing 50.000 cars from circulation. Furthermore, like all ACCIONA Energy projects, it will be part of the Social Impact Management of the company, which dedicates a part of the annual income from its facilities to social, environmental and training initiatives that improve the well-being of the communities where it operates.

In 2023, ACCIONA Energy launched its first photovoltaic installation in the Dominican Republic, the Calabaza I plant (58MWp). In addition, the company is building the 162MW Cotoperí photovoltaic project jointly with Cotosolar Holding, SA, which includes JMMB Sustainable Energy Fund (FES), managed by JMMB Funds, to Grupo Pais and other minority investors. Made up of three solar plants, this complex will be one of the largest in Central America and Caribbean.
