With a capacity of 458 megawatts peak (MWp), it is the largest solar complex built by the company to date.
The launch of Red-Tailed Hawk marks an important milestone in the commitment of ACCIONA Energy with renewable energies in North America, where the company has a total of 2,7 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity. This project consolidates its position as a key player in the energy transition of the region, where it is also building the wind farm Forty Mile (280 MW) in Alberta (Canada) and the Union Solar photovoltaic plant (325 MWp) in Ohio (United States).
The project is part of ACCIONA Energy's Social Impact Management program
Red-Tailed Hawk It is equipped with solar panels equipped with intelligent trackers that orient themselves according to the path of the sun, thus maximizing light collection and energy production. The plant will generate 742 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of approximately 66.500 homes. This will prevent the emission of around 430.000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
The project is part of the program of ACCIONA Energy Social Impact Management, which reinvests a portion of its facilities' annual revenue to improve the education, well-being and environmental management of the communities where it operates. In addition to its contribution to decarbonization, Red-Tailed Hawk has generated new job opportunities in the area, creating up to 400 jobs during the construction of the park and 15 permanent jobs.
