ACCIONA Energía leads a milestone, inaugurating Cotoperí Solar in the Dominican Republic, the largest Photovoltaic Park in the region

 

The project, developed by ACCIONA Energy as the majority shareholder (51%) together with Cotosolar Holding (49%), consists of three solar plants that will generate 286 GWh of clean energy annually. This operational capacity will prevent the emission of more than 210.000 tons of CO2. CO2 to the atmosphere, an environmental impact comparable to planting more than 5,5 million trees.

 

Economic and Social Boost

 

The construction of the complex has left a positive and significant mark on the local economy, with the direct and indirect hiring of more than 600 people area.

 

In addition to its impact on employment, Cotoperí Solar has promoted a series of social initiatives that already benefit more than 3.500 people in the surrounding communities, focused on local development and improving quality of life. These initiatives include: the creation of a job bank prioritizing local labor; vocational and entrepreneurship training programs; and road safety campaigns for workers and residents.

 

In a joint effort with Centro Arcoíris and $\text{acciona.org}$The project is also driving improvements in access to water and sanitation in the Bella Vista and Villa Penca neighborhoods in Bajos de Haina, benefiting more than 4.500 people.

 

Consolidation of Investments in Renewables

 

Key figures such as the Minister of Energy and Mines were present at the event, Joel santos, the president and CEO of ACCIONA, Jose Manuel Entrecanales, and the leaders of the co-investor entities: Juan José Melo (JMMB Dominican Republic) and Juan Carlos País (Pais Group).

 

Cotoperí Solar is the second photovoltaic project that ACCIONA Energía has completed in the Dominican Republic, joining Calabaza I (58 MWp), which came online in 2023. The company is already working on the Pedro Corto solar plant (82,69 MWp) in collaboration with Grupo País. Meanwhile, Grupo País and the JMMB Sustainable Energy Fund (FES) maintain investments in the country exceeding 710 MWp, underscoring their fundamental role in the Dominican energy transition.
