Alba Petisco receives tribute for historic double medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships

The Catalan became the first Spanish gymnast to win a continental medal in the 'all around' (complete competition), adding to this milestone a bronze in the floor final.

The reception, held at CSD headquarters, served to recognize Petisco's unprecedented achievement in Leipzig, GermanyWith a score of 53.965, Alba Petisco won the silver medal in the all-around competition, trailing only Italy's Manila Esposito (54.965). The podium was completed by Romania's Ana Barbosu with 52.299 points.

In addition to her historic silver, Petisco crowned her performance with a bronze in the challenging floor final, cementing the best individual performance by a Spanish gymnast at a European Championship.

"I'm still on cloud nine," declares the double medalist

After the reception, the 22-year-old gymnast shared her feelings, still processing the magnitude of her achievements. "I'm still on cloud nine. It's hard to believe I'm the first Spanish gymnast to win an all-around medal. That medal was a shock, but it allowed me to go all out on floor. In that final, I had to introduce a new element to win a medal, and after the silver in the all-around, I decided to take a risk. I had nothing to lose. Luckily, it worked out. This is a real boost of energy heading into the World Championships," Petisco stated.

Along with Alba Petisco, the president of the Royal Spanish Gymnastics Federation, Jesús Carballo, and the coaches of the national women's artistic gymnastics team, Eva Rueda, Claudia Vilá and Almudena San José, key pieces in achieving this success.
