The Spanish-German Alliance, Lofith Composites and FibreCoat develop a pioneering plastic

 

Collaboration between Lofith Composites y FibreCoatA world leader in coated fiber technology, seeks to meet the extreme demands of the space environment with solutions from high performance and recyclableThe Valencian company, founded in 2024, contributes its unique impregnation process which not only achieves a remarkable weight reduction and an increase in strength (30% greater than aluminum), but also minimize water consumption in its manufacture.

 

For its part, FibreCoat integrates into this alliance its experience in fiber coatingswhich allows combining the properties of the fibers and the coating material (metals and plastics) to offer resistance and conductivity at a fraction of the weight and cost of other products. The German firm was recently recognized at the DLR INNOspace Masters, winning €500.000 in funding. By joining forces, both companies aim to validate a material that can initially be used in satellite panels.

 

This collaboration comes amid rapid growth in the global space sector, which, according to forecasts by the World Economic Forum, could reach $1,8 trillion by 2035.

 

Space Test: The Key to Your 'Space Ready'

 

La first orbital demonstration The FibreCoat–Lofith composite will undergo testing in 2026. Samples of the material will be sent into space aboard a satellite for approximately 12 monthsIntegrated sensors will measure the impact of the dangerous ionizing radiation, temperature changes and the effects of high vacuum. These results will be decisive to determine final viability and whether the material is, in fact, "space-ready." The test is scheduled for the first or second quarter of 2026.
