Collaboration between Alstom and GMV It materializes in a project that fuses history and technology, taking passengers on a journey through the five historic districts of AlUla, emulating the spirit of the historic Hijaz Railway. The «AlUla Experiential Tramway» will not only connect heritage sites of the UNESCO, but will also offer an immersive experience through the oasis and the desert, reflecting the ancient pilgrimage routes.
The technological heart of this system will be the solution SAE-R® by GMV, a multi-application platform designed for the comprehensive management of the railway transport serviceThis solution, already successfully tested in fleets such as RENFE and the Barcelona tram in Spain, as well as international operators in Poland, Australia and Morocco, ranging from real-time fleet planning and monitoring to passenger information and statistical data mining.
GMV's AVLS system goes beyond traditional functions, offering a exceptional accuracy in train location, efficient messaging management with drivers and passengers, detailed information for travelers both on board and at stations, and energy optimization while driving through automatic route requests and continuous information for drivers.
La functional integration is key to this project. SAE-R® will connect to a wide range of external systems at the control center, such as schedulers, passenger information systems, and integrated operation and control systems (SiOC/Smart City). Onboard, it will integrate with the Train Control and Management System (TCMS), passenger information systems, Automatic Train Protection (ATP), and passenger counting, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
The GMV system is designed to ensure maximum availability in the event of specific errors in any of its components, in addition to complying with current cybersecurity requirements.
The 20 trains of the "AlUla Experiential Tramway" will have On-board units and HMI touch monitors (Human Machine Interface) designed and manufactured by GMV. In addition, a control center ecosystem will be installed with workstations for monitoring and analyzing the operation in real and delayed time, allowing for the calculation of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to evaluate system performance.
