The Minister of Development, Rocío Díaz , and the President of the Andalusia Logistics Cluster, Miguel Ángel Tamarit , have formalized a collaboration agreement that seeks to consolidate logistics as a key driver of territorial and economic development for Andalusia.
Regional Minister Díaz highlighted the need to “create synergies and forge alliances in a strategic sector like logistics ,” emphasizing the region's privileged position to become a continental hub . Díaz underscored the progress already made, such as the deployment of the Andalusia Logistics Network and the realization of vital projects like the construction of the Antequera Dry Port and the development of the logistics areas in the Bay of Algeciras and Córdoba . However, she stressed the importance of “having allies who can help us along this path, with drive and determination, like the Andalusia Logistics Cluster . ”
The Cluster, an independent business association, brings together companies in the sector with the mission of improving regional competitiveness , promoting research, innovation, and technological development (R&D&I), and fostering the internationalization of the business community. Its activities focus on specialized training, the transfer of results, and raising awareness of the importance of the logistics sector for Andalusian economic and infrastructure growth.
This collaboration will be facilitated through the Public Ports Agency of Andalusia (APPA) , reaffirming the commitment to the Andalusia Logistics Network . This network comprises eleven logistics hubs , seven of which are port-based and four inland, and is integrated and interconnected with the main consumer centers of Spain and Central Europe. The strategy is based on promoting intermodality as a sustainable and efficient transport model.
Among the key functions of this Logistics Network is to promote public-private cooperation formulas for land development, investment in equipment and infrastructure in the areas, and the provision of essential services, all while facilitating a strategic transport network at the service of the Autonomous Community.
The signing of this important agreement was also attended by prominent institutional figures, including the Deputy Minister of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, Mario Muñoz-Atanet; the Director General of the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia (APPA), Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio; and the Director of Ports of APPA, Onofre Sánchez, highlighting the institutional commitment to this initiative.
