Andalucía has reached a historic milestone in 2024, breaking all records of agri-food exports with an impressive figure of 15.700 billion euros. This achievement, highlighted by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Ramon Fernandez-Pacheco, reflects the region's excellence and its position as a leader in the sector.
During a visit to a premium tomato greenhouse in AlmeriaFernández-Pacheco praised the quality of the tomato LovesThis variety is distinguished by its sweetness and exceptional flavor. "This tomato, which has won over the world's best chefs, represents the excellence of our land," stated the councilor, thanking Lorenzo García for the opportunity to learn firsthand about the cultivation of this "gastronomic gem."
Tomatoes from Almería have played a crucial role in the success of Andalusian exports. Data from the September-December campaign reveals that 111.773 tons of tomatoes were exported, with a value of almost €194 million. "These figures reflect the effort, professionalism, and capacity of our agri-food sector," Fernández-Pacheco noted.
The Minister of Agriculture highlighted the "innovation, quality and unparalleled flavor" of these products, emphasizing the fundamental role of the premium Adora tomato in their international success.
The minister also highlighted the importance of water for the agricultural sector, announcing an investment of 325 million euros to guarantee the supply of water for irrigation. This investment includes an increase in the budget for the PARRA Plan for the construction of reclaimed water pipelines, aid for the modernization of irrigation, and support for the construction of water storage reservoirs.
Furthermore, the Andalusian Regional Government has increased the budget for the modernization of agricultural holdings to €175 million, with the aim of boosting the sector's sustainability and profitability. "Our objective is clear: to continue promoting this successful model, guaranteeing water resources and the necessary support so that Andalusia remains a global leader in agri-food production and exports," the Regional Minister concluded.
