Andalusia breaks the export record to America with a growth of 38%, the highest among the five continents

In the first ten months of 2022

For years, the American continent has been a priority destination in the commercial diversification strategy that the Government of Andalusia promotes through Extenda.

Andalucía advances its market diversification strategy, and America It is the continent that monopolizes the most prominence in this. Andalusian exports to this destination have reached a record between January and October 2022, with 4.078 million euros, also being the continent with the highest year-on-year growth, 38%, which makes Andalusia the community that is growing the most in this destination of the 10 most exporters in Spain. 

 

This good performance of Andalusian exports in America has helped boost sales from Andalusia to the whole world in this period, in which it has broken a new record, reaching 35.857 million euros, the highest figure recorded for this period and 1.300 million euros more than in all of 2021, the last historical year. 

 

For years now, the American continent has been a priority destination in the commercial diversification strategy that the Government of Andalusia promotes through extend, a company integrated into TRADE, with extensive programming aimed at it, which aims to boost the activity of companies and improve the positioning of the Andalusia Brand. In fact, it is the market that brings together the largest number of internationalization actions organized by Extenda in 2022, almost half a thousand (497), which generated 2.921 shares from 1.302 Andalusian companies, a figure that is equivalent to 87% of regular exporters to the continent, which shows the usefulness that Extenda's services represent for Andalusian companies. 

 

America is the second continental destination for Andalusian sales, after Europe, with 11,4% of the total international invoice in the first ten months of 2022, while Andalusia is the community that grows the most of the 10 most exporters and it is fourth by value of exports, with 12,2% of the national total. 

 

The United States is the first American market for Andalusian companies, so that it concentrates two thirds of the region's exports to this continent and is the country that grows the most of the first 10 it reaches. 

 

Precisely, the good progress of the community's sales on the continent is the result of the efforts of Andalusian export companies, which totaled 6.170 firms. Of them, practically one in four (24,2%) are regular exporters, specifically, 1.495 companies, a figure that represents an increase of 5,6% year-on-year, which shows that those companies that are committed to opening up to the markets Americans manage to strengthen their position in these destinations. These companies are responsible for 78% of sales. 

 

Cádiz, leader; Huelva, the one that grows the most

 

In this period, all provinces contributed to the business in America with significant increases in sales, seven of them double digits or more. Lead exports Cadiz, with 966 million euros in January-October 2022, 23,7% of the total and a growth of 39%; which they follow Seville, with 908 million, 22,3% and an increase of 16,4%; and Huelva, with 619 million, 15,2%, which almost triples its figure with an increase of 184%, the largest among the provinces.

Very diversified sales

Andalusia registers very diversified sales to America, with agri-food and industrial products among its main export chapters. In first place are fuels and mineral oils, with 1.167 million euros, 28,6% of the total, which doubles its bill with a growth of 103% compared to the same period of the previous year.

 

In second position is olive oil, with a record figure of 709 million euros, 17,3% and growth of 34%; followed by stone and plaster manufactures, with 413 million euros, 10,1% of the total and an increase of 27,3%; preparations of vegetables and fruits, with 171 million, 4,2%, which grew by 17,1%; machines and boilers, with 111 million, 2,7% and an increase of 45%; organic chemical products, with 102 million, 2,5%, which doubles its figure and is the chapter that grows the most of the first ten, with an increase of 154%. 

 

USA, leader; and advances in Latin America

 

The United States is the first destination for Andalusian exports, with 2.754 million euros, 68% of the total, and it is the market that is growing the most in the TOP 10, with an increase of 66%. They follow him Brazil, with 264 million, 6,5% and an increase of 33%; and Mexico, with 250 million, 6,1% and an increase of 19,1%. 

 

In fourth place is to Canada, with 202 million, 4,9% of the total; followed by Chile with 94 million, 2,3% and an increase of 25,3%; Colombia, with 88 million, 2,2% and an increase of 16%; Dominican Republic, with 71 million, 1,7% and an increase of 44%, the second largest of the top ten; Ecuador, with 61 million, 1,5% and growth of 18,8%; while they close the TOP 10 Argentina, with 51 million, 1,2%; and Peru, with 37 million, 0,9% of total sales. 

 

Extenda support on the continent

 

With the aim of expanding the Andalusian export base and for companies in the community to continue strengthening their position abroad and, specifically, in America, Extenda develops a strategy with a focus aimed at markets, which Commits to digital transformation and business intelligence, combined with the services and expert knowledge on the field offered by its Outdoor Network, present in 11 countries within the American continent, which serves as support to Andalusian companies when designing the design of their internationalization plan.

 

Specifically, America has been the continental destination that has added the greatest number of actions organized by Extenda in 2022 to boost the presence of Andalusian SMEs in its markets, with 497 of a total of 1.433, that is, more than a third. 

 

Among the most relevant actions that have had a greater participation of Andalusian companies, the campaign of the Spanish Teaching Portal in Canada, USA and Brazil; and trade missions on priority sectors such as agri-food, logistics, naval, agricultural auxiliary industry or contract, to markets of interest such as Chile, United States, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica or Peru. 

 

Furthermore, it has developed the Club Extenda Latin America, an instrument that offers companies valuable economic and geopolitical information, networking to expand their network of contacts, new business opportunities and expert support on the ground. 

 

Likewise, Extenda has organized the participation of Andalusian companies in fairs such as Fancy Food, PLMA Chicago or Americas Food and Beverages or SIAL Canada, for the agri-food sector; Aerospace and Defense Supplier Summit for the aeronautics; Perumin, for the miner; either FIL Guadalajara, for the literary.
