Andalucía TRADE opens doors to booming markets in Nicaragua and Guatemala

Andalucía TRADE has facilitated the holding of 56 high-level meetings between eight Andalusian companies and dozens of Importers, buyers and operators in Nicaragua and Guatemala, countries which have experienced notable growth in Andalusian exports in 2024.

These meetings, held from February 17 to 21 in Managua and Guatemala City, respectively, were a resounding success, generating a total of 27 meetings in Nicaragua and 29 in Guatemala. The participation of companies from Seville, Jaen, Granada and Cordoba, including Mobile CRM Mobile Applications for Business, Record Metal Shelving, Andalusian Machinery Industrial Society-Sima, Hiansa, Natural Oils of the South, Hiansa Panel, Inagroup Biotech and SCA Ganadera del Valle de los Pedroches-Covap (Covap), highlights the diversity and potential of the Andalusian business fabric.

The growth of Andalusian trade with Nicaragua and Guatemala is undeniable. Sales to Nicaragua increased by 46% in 2024, reaching 8,6 million euros, with olive oil, furniture and food preparations as the main export products. In Guatemala, purchases of Andalusian products reached a record of 27,7 million euros, 11,9% more than in 2023, with food preparations, olive oil and machinery standing out.

Andalusian companies from various sectors participated in more than fifty high-level meetings with local agents, opening new avenues for collaboration in two markets that experienced a notable increase in Andalusian exports.

"These meetings have been a unique opportunity for our companies to establish direct contacts with potential business partners in Nicaragua and Guatemala," commented a representative of Andalucía TRADE"The growth of Andalusian exports to these countries demonstrates the enormous potential that these markets offer for our companies."

The Andalucía TRADE reports highlight specific opportunities in each country. In Guatemala, demand for high-value Spanish products and services is driven by the industrialisation process and infrastructure needs. The construction, public works, machinery and agri-food sectors present great potential.

“We’ve noticed a growing interest in our agri-food products, especially olive oil,” stated an exporter from Andalusia. “The quality of our products is highly valued in Guatemala.”

In Nicaragua, the agro-industrial sector, agricultural technology and renewable energy offer significant scope for growth. Demand for advanced irrigation and crop solutions, as well as clean energy technologies, is on the rise.

“Nicaragua represents a promising market for our agricultural technology solutions,” said a businessman from Andalusia. “There is a great need to improve crop efficiency and water management.”

The Andalusia TRADE action is co-financed with funds from the European Union, which underlines the importance of international collaboration in promoting trade and economic development.
