Arauco enters the paper market in Brazil

The Chilean company will invest 147 million euros

Chilean company Arauco, part of the Angelini group, will invest approximately 147 million euros (208 million dollars) to purchase the assets of a Finnish firm in Brazil in a transaction that includes sawmills, forest plantations, and a paper mill.
After a year of negotiations, Arauco and the Finnish company Stora Enso - the world's largest producer of paper and boards - sealed the alliance, including the purchase of 20% of a paper production plant in the town of Arapoti.
Arauco bought 100% of a sawmill with an annual production of 150.000 cubic meters, 80% of Arapoti's forestry holdings (50.000 hectares including 25.000 hectares of pine and 5.000 hectares of eucalyptus) and 20% of the paper production plant with a capacity of 205 tons per year
