Algeria earned a foreign trade surplus of $22.170 billion during the first nine months of the year, according to official statistics released today, a decrease of 16,06 percent compared to the same period last year.
Exports rose to $42.040 billion, down 0,73 percent from the same period in 2006, and imports were $19.870 billion, up 24,69 percent.
Hydrocarbon sales, as usual, accounted for 98 percent of export volume, bringing in $41.140 billion.
The main customers were the United States ($10.940 billion), Italy ($6.140 billion), Spain ($4.580 billion), France ($3.310 billion) and Canada ($3.040 billion).
As for the main suppliers, the top spot continued to be held by France (3.590 billion dollars), followed by Italy (1.580 billion), China (1.510 billion), the United States (1.420 billion) and Germany (1.280 billion).
