The Basque Country Mobility and Logistics Cluster strengthens its international profile at the Smart City Expo World Congress

The leading player in smart mobility and logistics in the Basque Country, the Basque Country Mobility and Logistics Cluster, has used its participation in the recent Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona to build a strong network of international contacts, explore new avenues for European cooperation and generate business opportunities for its member companies, reinforcing its role as a driver of sustainable innovation.

The Basque Country Mobility and Logistics Cluster attended the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) accompanied by a twenty partner entitiesconsolidating the relevance of Basque mobility and logistics on a global scale. The Cluster's presence at this trade fair and congress focused on promoting key activities to boost the internationalization and sustainability of the sector.

 

Strategic Alliances and Nordic Cooperation

 

One of the most notable actions was the meeting with a Norwegian delegation whose objective was the exploration of opportunities for international cooperationAs a result, the following were established: direct contacts with two similar groups and diverse Scandinavian companies who showed interest in collaborating in joint European projects with the Basque Cluster.

 

The fair also established itself as a crucial meeting point with other international organizations. In addition to initial contacts, concrete proposals for collaboration were developed, focusing on the innovation and mobility which could translate into new business opportunities for Basque companies.

 

Strengthening Links with ICEX and European Projects

 

The group played an active role in a Roundtable which was held in the Spanish pavilion, coordinated by the ICEX - Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (internationalization body). During this session, the Cluster's lines of work were presented to the public, and three of its partner companies They had the opportunity to detail their activities and most recent projects. This participation was fundamental for strengthening ties with ICEX and with other entities present at the SCEWC.

 

In addition, the Basque delegation was able to inspect the towing tractor developed within the framework of European project H2Tow Tractor, in which the Cluster participates as a consortium and which was exhibited in the demo area of ​​the Congress. This project seeks the development of a innovative hydrogen retrofit kit for towing tractors in large logistics centers (such as airports and markets), a crucial milestone to achieve a Cleaner and more efficient logistics, and that is fully aligned with decarbonization goals and sustainable mobility of the European Union.

 

Participation in the event was complemented by various activities networking which allowed for the collection of detailed information about the latest trends in the sector and expand the network of contacts with the main players in urban mobility and logistics in smart cities.

 

Expansion of the Cluster Ecosystem

 

In the context of the trade fair activity, the Cluster's Board of Directors made public the addition of two new membersOn the private side, Aikox[Company Name], specializing in ICT development and advertising, is integrated into the product and service axis. In the public sector, the Beasain City Council (Gipuzkoa) joins the area of ​​administrations. These additions strengthen the diversity, representativeness and commitment of the Cluster with innovation and improved mobility in the Basque Country.
