The Madrid Chamber of Commerce hosted a strategic meeting on November 21st focusing on trade relations between Spain and Turkey. Entitled "Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: Engines of Growth and Opportunity in the Digital Age," the event explored how disruptive technology and cross-border cooperation can act as key drivers of business competitiveness, addressing topics ranging from financing opportunities to legal certainty in data exchange.
The event brought together experts and representatives from both countries to explore synergies between the Spanish and Turkish economies at a time of global digital transformation. During the event, discussions focused on... digital trends applied to the real economyas well as the investment strategies that allow both innovation ecosystems to be connected.
One of the central themes of the meeting has been the identification of avenues for financial and technical collaboration. Altan Cakir, co-chair of the initiative AI Turkiye, has highlighted the importance of capitalizing on emerging talent in the technology sector. "Today in Madrid we are going to discuss funding opportunities between these two countries and how we can really leverage startups in the context of AI applications."Cakir pointed out.
The Turkish expert emphasized to the attendees the critical relevance that these tools have acquired in the current corporate structure: "You are all aware that Artificial Intelligence applications are critical throughout the entire business flow", he affirmed, highlighting the role of the university data science and analytics as a basis for this development.
Secure digitization for SMEs and administration
On the Spanish side, the event has included the participation of Antonio GuerreroGuerrero, an engineer in electronics and industrial automation, has contributed his vision from the perspective of technical implementation and institutional support. Guerrero, who works in the Carlos III University within the project EDIH (European Digital Innovation Hub), explained the operation of these innovation nodes promoted by European initiatives.
"We are dedicated to enabling companies and administrations to test technologies that, in principle, they believe can improve the way they work, but which they are not sure will facilitate that investment."The engineer explained. The goal of this free service is to mitigate the financial risk of technological transformation: "We provide them with these services so they can test them and then decide if that's really what they need to improve."Guerrero concluded, emphasizing the importance of validating the technology before making large capital outlays.
Regulatory framework and strategic programs
Beyond pure technology, the session has delved into the strategic programs of the Turkish Government and its alignment with the European market. The challenges of operating in a globalized digital environment have been discussed, analyzing the legal and regulatory challenges necessary to operate with full guarantees.
Among the most sensitive topics discussed were the compliance and confidentiality, the development of a Responsible Artificial Intelligence, digital trust and, especially, the international data exchange, a crucial aspect for companies with an export and investment focus in both markets.
