Andalusia boosts its logistics ambition: Public Works and the Cluster sign a key agreement for innovation and employment

The Andalusian Regional Government, through its Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning, and Housing, has forged a key alliance with the Andalusia Logistics Cluster. The aim of this agreement is to strengthen the region's strategic position as a major logistics hub in Southern Europe, focusing on business collaboration, the creation of quality jobs, and technological innovation within the sector.

The Minister of Public Works, Rocio Diaz, and the president of the Andalusia Logistics Cluster, Miguel Ángel TamaritThey have formalized a collaboration agreement that seeks to consolidate logistics as a axis of territorial and economic development for Andalusia.

 

Councilor Díaz has highlighted the need to “to create synergies and forge alliances in a strategic sector like logistics”, emphasizing the Privileged position of the region to become a hub continental. Díaz highlighted the progress already made, such as the deployment of the Andalusia Logistics Network and the realization of vital projects such as the construction of Antequera Dry Port or the development of logistics areas of Algeciras Bay y CordobaHowever, he stressed the importance of “Having allies who help us on this path, with drive and determination, like the Andalusia Logistics Cluster”.

 

The Cluster, an independent business association, brings together companies in the sector with the mission of improve regional competitivenessto promote research, innovation and technological development (R&D&I), and to foster the internationalization of the business fabric. Its activities focus on specialized training, the transfer of results and the dissemination of the importance of the logistics sector for the economic and infrastructure growth Andalusian.

 

This collaboration will be articulated through the Public Agency of Ports of Andalusia (APPA)reaffirming the commitment to the Andalusia Logistics NetworkThis network is composed of eleven logistics nodes, of which seven are port-related and four are inland, and is located integrated and interconnected with the main consumer centers of Spain and Central Europe. The strategy is based on promotion of intermodality as a model of sustainable transport and efficient.

 

Among the key functions of this Logistics Network is to promote formulas of public-private cooperation for land development, investment in equipment and infrastructure in the areas, and the provision of essential services, all while facilitating a strategic transport network at the service of the Autonomous Community.

 

The signing of this important agreement was also attended by prominent institutional figures, including the Deputy Minister of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, Mario Muñoz-Atanet; the Director General of the Public Ports Agency of Andalusia (APPA), Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio; and the Director of Ports at APPA, Onofre Sánchez, highlighting the institutional commitment with this initiative.
