Preparation for the 10th Spain-China Forum and analysis of the State Visit of the King and Queen mark the last meeting of the Board of Trustees in 2025.

The Spain-China Council Foundation (FCEC) held its second and final Board of Trustees meeting for 2025. The strategic meeting served to take stock of bilateral relations and outline the roadmap for the coming year, highlighting the preparation of the 10th Spain-China Forum.

 

Institutional boost following the royal visit

 

The session included a speech by the Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs, Diego Martínez BelíoBelío offered a detailed analysis of the evolution of the relationship between Spain and China. He placed particular emphasis on the recent State visit of the King and Queen to China in NovemberHe described it as a key factor in strengthening the institutional and economic aspects of the relationship. The Secretary of State emphasized the new opportunities this trip opens up for the various actors involved in the bilateral dialogue.

 

María Victoria González Román, new general secretary

 

One of the central points of the meeting was the appointment of María Victoria González Román as the new Secretary General of the Foundation, succeeding Ramón María Moreno. González Román is a diplomat with extensive experience who has held important positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notably as Spain's ambassador to Denmark between 2022 and 2025.

 

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs, Diego Martínez Belío, spoke to review the evolution of the relationship between Spain and China, with special reference to the recent State Visit of the King and Queen to China.

 

Action Plan 2026 and the 10th Forum

 

The Board of Trustees gave the green light to Action Plan 2026which sets out the objectives and priority activities for the next fiscal year. The main milestone of this plan will be the organization of the 10th Spain-China Forum, a major biennial event that will be held in Spain in a city and on a date yet to be confirmed.

 

The Forum is established as the essential platform of the FCEC, bringing together institutions, companies, universities and organizations from both countries to discuss and advance in the main areas of the bilateral relationship.

 

The Board of Trustees, which brings together companies, public administrations, universities and entities with a common interest in strengthening Spanish-Chinese ties, reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue and cooperation between strategic sectors of both nations.
