This award, developed by the OHLA-NCC joint venture for Trafikverket (the Swedish transport administration), recognizes the innovation, sustainability and technical excellence of a project that has transformed one of the country's main railway corridors, redefining European standards.
The Lund–Arlöv project modernized the key corridor connecting Malmö to Stockholm, widening the 11-kilometer stretch between Lund and Arlöv from two to four tracks. This expansion has proven crucial for Increase operational capacity, improve punctuality, and strengthen sustainability of rail transport in Sweden.
Thanks to this transformation, the runner is able to withstand up to 650 trains and serve more than 80.000 passengers every dayconsolidating itself as an essential infrastructure for the country's sustainable mobility. The four main routes became operational in 2023, and the formal handover of all additional phases was completed in May 2025.
Innovation and Sustainability as pillars
The highly complex project included the construction of temporary tracks to maintain service, a 400-meter tunnel in Åkarp, and the renovation or construction of four stations (Burlöv, Åkarp, Hjärup, and the new Klostergården). In addition, nine railway bridges, thirteen road bridges, and extensive civil engineering works were carried out.
