ACCIONA has formalized a 100% renewable electricity supply contract with STCP - Sociedade de Transportes Colectivos do Porto.
With this agreement, the facilities of the largest road transport operator in the city, as well as the company's management systems and the fleet of electric vehicles, will be supplied with clean electricity, which will avoid the annual emission of 1.046 tons of CO2 to the atmosphere in the area where STCP operates.
The contract provides that ACCIONA supply approximately 5.000MWh of certified electricity with guarantees of 100% renewable origin, according to the platform EEGO (Issuing Entity of Guarantees of Origin) REN (National Electric Grid).
With this contract, ACCIONA becomes the first supplier in Portugal to certify in EEGO all the energy supplied to all its clients with guarantees of 100% renewable origin
STCP is committed to reducing CO2 emissions and developing a sustainable mobility system in the six municipalities where it operates (Porto, Gaia, Gondomar, Maria, Matosinhos and Valongo), contracting energy consumption of entirely renewable origin.
La Porto Collective Transport Society thus joining the more than 50 clients supplied by ACCIONA with 100% renewable energy in Portugal. ACCIONA It only sells 100% clean energy and plans to certify all the energy supplied on the new EGGO platform to consolidate itself as the largest 100% renewable supplier in the Portuguese market.
According to Alexandre Kisslinger, director of the Energy division of ACCIONA in Portugal, “this is a strategic agreement for ACCIONA. We are aware of the relevance of a company like STCP, its vision for the future of public transport in Greater Porto, as well as the role it has played in raising public awareness about the importance of renewable energies for our economy and society. It is another example of our commitment to the implementation of a green economy, thinking about the present, but also about future generations.”
In addition to its marketing activity, ACCIONA adds renewable energy production assets, with more than 166MW of installed power in the country, including wind and solar technologies. Its portfolio in Portugal is made up of 16 wind farms, in addition to one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the Iberian Peninsula, the Amareleja Solar Power Plant, with 46MWp, capable of producing enough energy for 30.000 Portuguese families and avoiding the emission of approximately 90.000 tons of CO2 per year into the atmosphere.
