The contract foresees that ACCIONA will provide Fnac Portugal with around 13.000MWh certified with 100% Renewable Origin Guarantees through the platform EEGO (Origem Guarantee Issuing Entity) of the National Electrical Grid (REN). With this, the Portuguese subsidiary of the French technology and culture distribution group will avoid the emission of 3.800 tons of CO2 per year.

ACCIONA began its collaboration with Fnac Portugal in 2019 through green energy production and supply solutions. With this, Fnac Portugal has already reduced its annual CO3.800 emissions by 2 tons since then, which is equivalent to removing 1.462 cars from circulation or planting 6.700 trees.

With the renewal of the agreement with ACCIONA for two years, Fnac Portugal materializes the strategy of the international group Fnac-Darty to implement processes and initiatives that reduce the environmental impact of their brands and activities.

To Carlos Alves, Director of General Services at Fnac Portugal, “thanks to the work developed together with ACCIONA we are going to drastically mitigate the carbon footprint of our establishments and logistics operations. Aprígio Guimarães, Energy Marketing Manager at ACCIONA in Portugal  explains: "the collaboration between ACCIONA and Fnac Portugal is a success, with the adoption of the best sustainability practices through the supply of 100% clean renewable energy. The new contract signed for the 2021/2022 biennium combines certain conditions for our client competitive and a significant contribution to their climate objectives.”

In addition to the marketing activity, ACCIONA has 166MW of renewable generation assets in Portugal, including wind and solar technologies. Its portfolio in Portugal is made up of 16 wind farms, in addition to one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the Iberian Peninsula, the Amareleja Solar Power Plant, with 46MWp, capable of producing enough energy for 30.000 Portuguese families and avoiding the emission of approximately 90.000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

This new contract joins a reference client in Portugal such as Coca-Cola, STCP, Sonae Arauco, Makro, Indorama or Danone, among others and reinforces the portfolio of international corporate clients of ACCIONA.

With 10,7GW of renewable energy, ACCIONA is the most sustainable electricity company in the world according to New Energy Top 100 Green Utilities and the analysis criteria of Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DWSI).
