The ambassador of the Arab Emirates offers collaboration to Córdoba businessmen to present business initiatives

The ambassador of the United Arab Emirates, Majid Hassan Mohammed H. Alsuwaidi, has visited the Córdoba Scientific and Technological Park, where the mayor Jose Maria Bellido, the delegate of the Board in Córdoba, Antonio Repullo and the director of the aforementioned center, Eva Pozo, they have explained its public-private operation.

 

Likewise, he held a meeting with representatives of the ICCA companies from Cordoba, dedicated to engineering and consulting for automatic control; Interior CONTRAC, a company at the forefront of luxury interiors; SILOS Córdoba, dedicated to the manufacture of metal silos for grain storage worldwide; and PAY THUNDER, which has developed the mobile application that facilitates payment for services such as public transportation.

 

The ambassador, for his part, offered the collaboration of the Embassy to the businessmen so that they can present your projects and business initiatives and opened the possibility for investors of UAE can enter Cordoban businesses. Likewise, after highlighting the tolerant character of his country that differentiates it from other countries in the region, he highlighted that they are not only interested in oil or gas, but that a wide range is opening up in sectors such as new technologies.

 

Respecto a Andalucía, pointed out that it represents 10,5% of Spanish exports to the United Arab Emirates and expressed his desire for economic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Andalusia to be strengthened.

 

At this meeting, organized by the Junta de Andalucía, have also attended Rosario Alarcon, director of Andalucía Global, Antonio Díaz, president of the Confederation of Businessmen and Maria del Mar Delgado, delegate of the Rector for International Projection. In his various interventions, they thanked the ambassador for his interest in strengthening ties of collaboration, getting to know the Andalusian business fabric, specifically Cordoba, and delving into its culture.

 

Díaz, who has defined the Scientific and Technological Park as “a brilliant place to discover,” referred to the businesses that Córdoba companies are carrying out in the United Arab Emirates. Díaz explained that from January to June of this year, Córdoba companies have exported more than 10 million euros, the main export product being jewelry with 25% of the export volume, followed by table olives, which account for 22%. , olive oil with 17%, industrial cold (cold rooms and hospitality) with 13% and decorative ceramics with 8%.

 

The ambassador then moved to the University of Cordoba, where he was received by the rector Jose Carlos Gomez and members of your team. On this visit, Francisco Sánchez Tortosa, director of UCO International Programs, explained the current projects and the different collaborations between the UCO and the Arab Emirates: student exchanges, training courses, postgraduate programs...

 

In this sense, the rector showed the ambassador his desire to expand this collaboration, not only in exchange and training, but in research covering different fields of knowledge. “The UCO is a key element in projects in Andalusia and Spain"said the rector, who gave as an example the Proton Therapy Center which will be based in the Technology Park.

 

The ambassador gave a presentation about his country, the different research centers, interest in the field of technologies and innovation and digitalization for the fight against climate change, among other sectors.
