Ximo Puig assures that the expansion of Mercadona in Portugal helps to improve the "reputational capacity" and make the Valencian business community visible.

The President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig has visited the co-innovation center of Mercadona en Lisbon, where he was able to learn about the expansion plans of the Valencian supermarket chain.
After the visit, which was also attended by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Arcadi España, and the Minister of Economy, Rafael Climent, the president has valued the announcement of the expansion of this network of establishments to the Lisbon area in the coming months, as well as the company's objective of reaching the figure of 150 stores in Portugal.
As explained, Mercadona constitutes a "prestigious signature" of the Valencia and its presence in the neighboring country is the most important "business card" of this Community in Portugal, given that its implementation offers the possibility of expanding the presence of Valencian companies from other sectors in the portuguese market.
Ximo Puig has encouraged taking advantage of the synergies created between both territories for the benefit of Portuguese and Valencian intersuppliers and of both economies as a whole.
The head of the Consell has indicated that Mercadona leads Spanish investments in Portugal, given that of the 600 million of the total, 400 come from this company, and has assured that this fact improves the "reputational capacity" and helps to "make visible the Valencian business community and the know-how of our economy."
