Indra, a leading global technological engineering company for the aerospace, defense and mobility sectors, has developed a pioneering project for the airport of Lisbon, by ANA - Vinci Airports, which provides the Portuguese aerodrome with a level of integration with Eurocontrol unprecedented, by integrating the Airport Operations Plan (Airport Operations Plan-AOP) with the Network Operations Plan (Network Operations Plan-NOP) for European air navigation.

Indra's solution facilitates greater visibility and predictability of flights, which provides the airport and all its stakeholders with the best framework for action around knowledge of the common situation, as well as early detection of deviations from the schedule. , which makes it possible to minimize possible delays, costs and associated emissions.

This is possible because the system Indra AOP implemented at the Lisbon airport exchanges for the first time with the Network Manager Operations Center of the European air navigation network manager information on flight arrivals and anticipates the sending of information on departures from the moment the airlines issue the flight plan, which can be about 20 hours before departure, versus the three hours in advance with which the most advanced airports (CDM- Collaborative Decision Making) currently provided this information.

In this way, the Airport de Lisbon begins a new level of airports AOP-NOP, with which the precision of the data is increased and the knowledge of the situation at the airport by Eurocontrol is anticipated, which not only has information on the flight plan, that is, on the planes once they are in the air, but of the entire process, also of what happens at the airport.

The LIS-IAOP project developed by Indra for the Lisbon Airport, ANA - Vinci Airports, has had funding from the European Union, through CINEA, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. It represents a first milestone to guarantee better visibility and predictability of flights at the level of the European air traffic network, improving the coordination, management and capacity of air traffic on the continent.

The more airports that exchange this level of information about flight departures and arrivals and become AOP-NOP, the more visibility there will be of what is happening throughout the entire airport. Europe and the better it can be managed. For this reason, the 30 main European airports will have to have this level of integration in 2027, as ordered by the European Commission (Regulation no. 2021/116), for which they will have to carry out similar projects, which will also have the boost of the European agency CINEA.

“This project for the Lisbon Airport has been possible thanks to Indra's previous experience in SESAR, where he has been able to work, test and validate different developments that have contributed to making our product Airport Operations Plan in the most advanced currently in operation. Being a spearhead in this area of cooperation between airport management and air traffic management in Europe reinforces Indra's technological leadership and positions the company for future contracts in other European airports," he highlights. Lidia Muñoz Perez, director of Ports and Airports in the market of Mobility de Indra.
