Hand in hand Asturex and CEEI Asturias, the company Neoalgae Micro Seaweeds Products SL, a biotechnology company specialized in the cultivation of microalgae and extraction of compounds of interest from microalgae for the nutraceutical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical sectors, visited the fair from March 20 to 22 Bioeurope Spring in Switzerland.
The objective of this initiative is to give visibility to Asturian biotechnology companies, boost their competitiveness and promote their internationalization. Bioeurope Spring This year it exhibited the latest advances in the biotechnology business, the therapeutic perspective and the protection of ecosystems; With a combination of speeches, roundtables and presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the latest industry trends, ideas, opportunities and challenges. Neoalgae managed its own agenda during these days, both in person and virtual; through the platform enabled by the organizers to contact potential clients and/or investors as well as learn about the latest advances in the biotechnology field.

Participation in this fair is part of the international promotion plan for the health sector designed by ASTUREX for the year 2023, which contemplates participation in 3 international fairs, dissemination of applicable international regulations and participation in direct missions.
The visit to the BIOEUROPE SPRING ® 2023 fair, in coordination with the European Business and Innovation Center, is within the program of aid aimed at supporting international promotion and market diversification of the companies of the Principality of Asturias
According to the report of the Spanish Bioempresas Association 2021, the activity of biotechnology companies generated more than 10.336 million euros in income, which represents 0,9% of the national GDP and a turnover of more than 12.000 million euros, generating more than nearly 122.000 jobs and placing Spain as the eighth world power in scientific production. In 2021, Asturias had 21 biotech companies, which represents 2,44% of the national total.
