Extremadura Avante celebrates a work day with Extremaduran companies and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce

The president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Antonio Luis Carricarte, has explained the new regulations for Foreign Investment that incorporate tax benefits and specify prioritized activities.

Within the framework of a business mission to Spain organized by Cuban chamber of commerce, Extremadura Advance has held a work day with Extremaduran companies in Mérida.

 

In the first part of the day, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, Antonio Luis Carricarte, has exposed the different changes introduced in the economy of the Island. Cuba has approved important measures to make more flexible and expand self-employment, non-agricultural cooperatives and MIPYMES. Carricarte has also explained the new regulations for Foreign Investment that incorporate tax benefits and specify prioritized activities.

 

In his speech, the general director of Extremadura Avante, Michael Bernal, has highlighted the potential of Extremadura and has pointed out possible avenues for business collaboration between both territories, mainly in the agri-food, tourism and energy sectors.

 

After the institutional interventions, a dozen Extremaduran companies have held meetings with the members of the Cuban delegation.

 

After the President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce and the general director of Extremadura, have held a meeting in which they have outlined specific lines of action in order to intensify business relations between businessmen from both territories within a framework of stability in the liquidity of joint projects.

 

At the end of the meeting, Antonio Carricarte and Miguel Bernal, have signed an update of the memorandum of understanding adapted to the situation of the Cuban economy. The document includes the intention to strengthen the channels of knowledge exchange, commercialization and bilateral investment.

 

The President of the Chamber of Commerce has been accompanied by the Consul of Cuba in Andalusia and Extremadura, Irelia López, by the specialist in senior policy with Spain of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Cuba, Mónica Quiroga and the commercial attaché of the Cuban embassy in Spain, Alejandro Pineiro.
