OHLA has announced the award by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) of the design and construction of the tunnel Gjønnes for an amount of 156 million euros.

The Gjønnes tunnel represents a new regional road link between Gjønnes and the E18 motorway in the Strand, with a subsequent connection to Fornebu. The project, of great technical complexity, includes the execution of a concrete tunnel of approximately 100 meters and another rock tunnel of approximately 1.400 meters. The infrastructure will have two lanes and a cross section of T9,5, in addition to a new intersection area in Gjønnes with connection to Bærumsveien.

OHLA will approach the construction of the Gjønnes tunnel with a focus on sustainability and safety. Innovative and environmentally friendly technical solutions will be used, and special attention will be paid to the protection of pedestrians and cyclists.

The award of the Gjønnes tunnel adds to the extensive portfolio of projects that OHLA develops in the Nordic countries. The company entered Norway in 2015 with the award of the EPC SKI, a 290 million euro railway initiative that was already inaugurated in August 2022 and has been awarded by the prestigious ENR publication. In 2017, OHLA made the leap to the Swedish market with the consortium award of the railway line improvement project between Lund and Arlöv (Malmö) for 295 million.

OHLA is positioned as the largest contractor for the Stockholm metro, with four contracts awarded for a global amount close to 330 million euros. Among the most notable projects are the construction of 7 new stations on the blue line, a 1,2 km section of a new metro line and a station 50 meters deep, as well as two single-track tunnels and one service in Royal garden.

The award of the Gjønnes tunnel highlights OHLA's commitment to the development of sustainable and innovative infrastructure in the Nordic markets. The company continues to strengthen its presence in this region, where it is committed to projects that contribute to the improvement of connectivity and transportation, promoting the economic and social development of the territories.
