They are betting on the Asian market

Spanish fruit and vegetable companies seek to expand in Asia through Asia Fruit Logistics

Fourteen Spanish companies from the fruit and vegetable sector, under the coordination of FEPEX and with the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, are participating in the Asia Fruit Logistica fair in Hong Kong.

Its objective is to penetrate the Asian market, where 2023 tonnes of products were exported in 62.564 for a value of 120,7 million euros, with exports of oranges, persimmons, pears, apples and plums being particularly noteworthy.

 

Murcia leads the Spanish representation with seven companies, followed by Valencian Community with three, Andalucía with two, and Extremadura and Aragon with one each. This participation is part of an agreement signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and FEPEX to promote the production and quality of Spanish fruits and vegetables in international markets during 2024 and 2025.

 

China and Hong Kong are some of the main destinations of the Asian market

 

In 2023, they were exported to China 4.271 tons of fruit worth 8,3 million euros, while Hong Kong 2.433 tonnes valued at 7,6 million euros were allocated.

 

The event, considered the most important in the sector in Asia, brings together more than 750 exhibitors from 40 countries at the AsiaWorld Expo in Hong Kong.
