Iberdrola and Gres Panaria Portugal sign an agreement to promote renewable energy in the ceramic sector

Spanish power company Iberdrola and Portuguese company Gres Panaria have signed a long-term renewable energy sales contract, which will begin in 2025. This agreement guarantees the supply of photovoltaic solar energy for the next ten years, with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices in the ceramic sector.

Iberdrola and Gres Panaria Portugal have announced a strategic agreement which will allow the leading Portuguese ceramics company to receive 92 GWh of clean energy for a decade. This Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) It not only reinforces the environmental commitment of both companies, but also contributes significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

 

Rui Afonso, general manager of Iberdrola Clientes Portugal, highlighted: “We are active agents in the decarbonisation of the industry. This PPA reflects our commitment to sustainable development and renewable energy.” For its part, Marco Mussini, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gres Panaria Portugal, said: “Sustainability has been fundamental to our business strategy. This agreement reinforces our mission to produce sustainably while maintaining high quality standards.”

In addition to the positive environmental impact, this PPA provides Gres Panaria with greater stability in the face of energy market volatility, ensuring more predictable costs for its production and customer service.

With emblematic projects such as Tâmega and its recent “Green” classification by Fitch Sustainable, reaffirms its position as one of the main promoters of change towards a green economy.
