President Garcia-Page expressed his "great satisfaction" in fulfilling his commitment to support footwear producers in Almansa (Albacete) and Fuensalida (Toledo) at the fair MICAM Milan, a key event for the sector worldwide.

"It is becoming more and more important, and within the whole of Spain, the market share that footwear from Castilla-La Mancha is acquiring is also increasing," said García-Page, highlighting the notable increase in sales. exports since 2015. This growth, in a context of globalization, highlights the competitiveness and quality of footwear produced in the region.

A key aspect highlighted by the president is the resilience of local producers, who have chosen to maintain their production in Castilla-La Mancha, rather than moving it to countries with lower costs. "They are avoiding the temptation to move the industry to Indonesia, or to China and United States and they continue with production in Castilla-La Mancha, making a greater marketing effort," he said.

García-Page also praised the work of the IPEX and the Institute of Foreign Trade of Spain, as well as the Ministry of Economy, in the promotion of Castilian-Manchegan footwear in the international markets"Here everyone is clear that a very important part of our growth depends on what we are able to sell abroad, this has revolutionised the agri-food sector in Spain, particularly in Castilla-La Mancha," he emphasised.

Common Front against Tariffs:

Regarding the tariffs announced by the United States, President García-Page reaffirmed the commitment of the autonomous communities, Government of Spain and European Union to present a common front. "We are going to create a common front with all the autonomous communities, with the Government of Spain and with the European Union, and to clearly present a response to the tariffs that they want to propose," he declared.

"Either we all play by the same rules or we will certainly not accept that they be changed overnight," warned García-Page, who advocated reciprocity in tariff policies. "I think that is what the sector is demanding. First, that there are none, but if there are, we should also establish the same tariffs or barriers for them." Asia or for United States, and I believe that the European Union is determined and determined to do so."

The president made these statements after touring the MICAM International Footwear Fair, accompanied by the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco, and business leaders from the sector.
