The Ambassador of Finland in Spain, Sari Rautio, made a high-level visit to Iberdrola's Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub (GSGIH) in Bilbao, thus consolidating the collaboration between one of the leading countries in digitalisation and the cutting-edge Spanish energy company.

The meeting, which was attended by a Finnish trade delegation and the honorary consul of Finland in Bilbao, Carolina Perez Toledo, highlighted the mutual interest in moving towards a smarter and more sustainable energy future.

During the visit, Iberdrola's latest advances in innovation, digitalisation and electrification were presented. Ambassador Rautio and his team showed particular interest in technological solutions developed for the efficient management of electrical networks, the integration of renewable energies and the promotion of sustainable mobility.
"Finland recognises Iberdrola's leadership in the transformation of the energy sector," said Ambassador Rautio, who highlighted the high level of digitalisation in her country, where 85,6% of SMEs have digital capabilities in artificial intelligence or data analysis, exceeding the European average. "We share the same goal of moving towards a cleaner and more digitalised energy future," she added.

The visit also served to explore possible avenues for collaboration between Finland and Iberdrola in areas such as research and development of new technologies, the implementation of smart grid solutions and the deployment of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
