This project, a pioneer in the region, stands out for its 64 MW capacity and the implementation of liquid cooling systems, an innovative technology that promises significant energy savings and sustainable growth for the sector.
Cyberjaya, known as the Silicon Valley of Malaysia, will be the epicenter of this ambitious project, which will consist of four data centers, forming a 256 MW campus on a 35-acre site. The first data center, whose construction will be carried out by Leighton Asia, will not only mark a milestone in its magnitude, but also in its focus on sustainability and energy efficiency.
Liquid cooling, the core technology of this project, represents a significant advancement in data center thermal management. Unlike traditional air-cooling systems, liquid cooling allows for more efficient heat dissipation, resulting in lower energy consumption and, consequently, a reduced carbon footprint. Furthermore, this technology enables the installation of higher-density equipment, which is crucial to support the growing demands of data processing in the era of artificial intelligence and big data.
The project also stands out for its commitment to water conservation. Thanks to the implementation of state-of-the-art cooling technologies, the data center will operate with near-zero water efficiency, minimizing its environmental impact.
Juan Santamaria, CEO of the ACS Group, CIMIC's parent company, highlighted the strategic importance of this project: "Leveraging our global capabilities in critical digital infrastructure, we will deliver this data center with the latest liquid cooling technology and cutting-edge solutions that can withstand higher heat loads. Liquid cooling systems consume less energy, helping operators reduce energy costs and improve energy efficiency."
For its part, Brad Davey, Managing Director of Leighton Asia, expressed his enthusiasm for the contract award: "Leighton Asia is excited about this new project, which demonstrates our expertise in delivering innovative and reliable digital infrastructure. We are delighted that our client has once again placed their trust in us for this contract, continuing a long-standing partnership."
This project will not only strengthen Malaysia's digital infrastructure but will also have a significant impact on the local economy, generating employment and attracting investment in the technology sector. The Cyberjaya data center campus is expected to become a hub for data storage and processing in Southeast Asia, driving innovation and technological development in the region.
The choice of Malaysia as the location for this project underlines the country's growing recognition as an attractive destination for investment in digital infrastructureIts strategic location, high-speed internet connectivity, and favorable business environment are key factors that have contributed to its positioning on the global data center map.
